ÁMEZING ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Today is Opening Day at Dodger Stadium! I hope to run into some of you at a game this year :)
March was interesting! Thank you for all the birthday wishes and love! And your support of this newsletter. I also appreciated everyone’s patience as I recovered from a back injury. I’m finally better and back doing facials :)
On that note, April is fully booked! But you can book a service for May here!
One note about booking: appointments book up FAST. May will fill up SOON.
People often ask if there’s a glitch or account issue when there aren’t any availabilities, but it’s just an indication I’m at capacity! When cancellations happen, I will absolutely reach out to this list with openings first.
As always, my website is the BEST way to book a service with me. Even if we’re BFFs! I love having open lines of communication with you all, but I’m actually the slowest to respond via text. I can’t check them very often while caring for clients, so they get buried and I lose track. If you need to book, use my website. (And if you have questions? Email! I will get back to it more quickly than text.)
Remember, I’m now CLOSED on THURSDAYS, SATURDAYS, and SUNDAYS.
Can’t wait to see you on MONDAYS, TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, and FRIDAYS!
(Please try to limit our digital client-client communication to these days too! It helps me relax and recharge for more energy exchange in the week ahead. A woman needs her weekend!)
Thank you for respecting my boundaries 🧡
ÁMEZING PRODUCTS:
LOVE WELLNESS
I got to shoot with LOVE WELLNESS this month! Lo Bosworth’s company! Laguna Beach! The Hills! Hello! The whole LOVE WELLNESS line of wellness support products is a slamdunk for me. I’ve been a customer for a long time, so getting to work together felt so good! My favorite LOVE WELLNESS item is THE KILLER, a set of vaginal boric acid suppositories that are truly a lifesaver. I always travel with them (just in case anything gets off balance). I’ve cleared many yeast infections with this product! Which has also meant less time on antibiotics! GET INTO IT. Their PH-balancing cleanser and wipes are also great additions to your intimate health and body-care arsenal. You can find LOVE WELLNESS in-store at a lot of Targets! Fun!
SAIE BEAUTY
I also shot with Saie this month! You’ve probably heard about how much I love this beauty brand from our work together in the past. Saie’s latest launch is their Skin Lightweight Hydrobounce Serum Foundation. Packed with hydrating and plumping ingredients, this foundation is luminous and buildable, suitable for both the most natural and most made-up beauty looks. Saie’s patented Hydrobounce Complex (a mix of hyaluronic acids, polyglutamic acid, and rice bran peptides) promises that this foundation actually looks better over time, never crepey or cakey. I wear shade 15 (as seen on the Sephora website! Yay!)
I loved this shoot and I love this product!
ÁMEZING FRIEND: RACHEL DAY
DO YOU KNOW RACHEL DAY? O-M-G. Rachel is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She’s a fellow water sign who runs her practice Day Acupuncture out of the ÁMEZ SKIN studio on Thursdays and Sundays (you can also find her at Poke Acupuncture on Mondays!)
Rachel offers services such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, moxibustion, and food energetics. We also offer each other personalized advice when we’re not in the studio together (aka text each other like nerds). More evidence of that is in the screenshot below, but please don’t follow her recommendation for me without consulting a licensed medical professional first!
Check out our conversation below to hear about her favorite wellness practices. She also shares great advice about taking care of ourselves during this shift into spring!
What are your favorite ways to take care of yourself? Who are your favorite practitioners that support you with that care?
My favorite way to take care is by moving at a pace that feels good for my body. My job is very physical and emotional and it takes a lot of energy. I need a lot of downtime after the days I treat clients. I get massages every week and acupuncture either weekly or every week depending on time!
I see Andrea for facials of course! I had never seen an esthetician before seeing her and I always value all the suggestions and tips Andrea passes on during the sessions together. Just about everything I use topically for my face is because of her!
I see my friend Sheila Govindarajan of Rasa Veda Healing throughout the year for Ayurvedic treatments and care.
For years, I have received Reiki occasionally and most recently hypnosis from my good friend Rachel Howe of Small Spells, which is really powerful and subtle and very helpful for shifting patterns and working through things.
Do you ever give yourself acupuncture? What’s that like?
I used to do it more often, but lately I usually just needle my jaw for the tension I have there. I much prefer getting acupuncture from someone else!
Is your approach to acupuncture the same whether a client comes in with emotional or physical issues?
It's all connected really. I have some patients who are coming in just for physical pain, but I still ask them how they are feeling emotionally or can sense how they are doing. We are always taking in everything when considering how to treat the body.
Sometimes I am focusing more on physical pain than emotional, but it's never usually just one or the other, and usually, they can be tied together!
The beauty of Chinese medicine is it is completely specific to you and no two people are the same. The medicine can adapt to what we need to treat, and that usually changes with each session or what's going on that specific day.
What is one basic principle of East Asian Medicine that you wish was more widely understood or adopted?
There are so many! I wish that more people would seek out care before things get really bad or are in a crisis. I started out by getting consistent acupuncture in my early twenties at a community acupuncture clinic in Brooklyn. I started going every week and never stopped going. Nothing else was consistent but I realized the profound impact it had on my life. Many times people make their way to acupuncture when they have tried everything else and nothing else has helped them. I wish as a society we were taught that we deserve care all the time, not just in times of crisis. We learn in East Asian Medicine about the necessity and benefits of preventive care.
Are there any recommendations you can make for herbal support during this transition from a cold winter into spring?
It is an especially good time to get acupuncture. Acupuncture and herbal medicine can help with seasonal allergies that lots of people experience in the springtime, as well as keep our immune systems strong. Consistent acupuncture year-round is most beneficial. If that isn't doable, checking in with any provider–whether that is an acupuncturist, Ayurvedic practitioner, or a naturopath can be wonderful to address anything that might be going on to help make a change for the upcoming seasonal shift. Herbal medicine is very specific to someone's individual needs and constitution, so it's always best to work with someone directly on what might be best for you.

ÁMEZING SERVICE: BUTT OF COURSE
Have you heard of my BUTT OF COURSE facial? This service is slept on! It’s a facial for your bum, a body part that is usually neglected in most people’s body care routines. There’s no shaming butt acne here! Clients who struggle with congestion love this treatment, especially super active people who experience post-workout acne all over their bum. It’s real!
Exfoliations, extractions, a masque or two…your bottom will be happy! It could be kind of a root chakra healing moment too!
And yes everyone gets a cute disposable thong to wear during the treatment!
One time will have you feeling like:
ÁMEZING SOUND:
Imagine me blasting this “TOXIC” cover on my way into the studio :)
ÁMEZING QUESTIONS:
THE COMMENTS ARE ON! Leave your questions below and I’ll answer them in upcoming newsletters! I can’t wait to hear what you’re curious about!
Talk more soon!
Andrea
You mentioned in the last newsletter you like to use cotton pad/cloth/etc to take off an oil cleanser. Can you just use water instead? If not, do you recommend any specific cloths and do you have to wash after each use? Thanks!
What body lotions and body oils recommendations do you have? Or that you personally use?
