My dear city, what a painful three weeks it’s been. My heart and my gut had never felt so much panic at the same time, so here I am checking in with you all. How are you doing today?
I hope you are working through these difficult times day by day. The saying couldn’t be more applicable here… day by day, day by day. This will be a collective marathon for quite some time, but we will get to the other side. I have the utmost confidence in Los Angeles. I believe in us.
I will keep this concise, but I’m really grateful for the time I spent as a child and teenager in Altadena.
I remember coming home from sleepovers and telling my mom that Altadena felt like you were in the clouds.
It was like sleeping in a cloud bank, a real–life Bella and Edward Cullen mood and experience. I’m a northeast Angeleno, so my time in the Palisades was really limited until I formed a lot of my professional relationships with locals there as an adult. It was this unknown part of LA for me that felt exciting, charming, and oceanic.
I guess my LA is really all of it. We are all connected more than ever. I have somehow fallen in love with my city even more this month, and at the same time, still feel worried. But optimistic too. Please continue checking in on your friends, neighbors, family members, gardeners, nannies, service workers, and first responders. Take care.
Even though the world truly feels like it's falling apart, I’m remembering how much we can do on a local level to contribute, not just now, but always. This is our wake up call for community involvement and activation. The beautiful thing is we are actually seeing this happen in real time and it’s an overwhelmingly incredible thing to witness. I’m talking Altadena Girls, Los Angeles Clothing Drive, NDLON and Pasadena Community Job Center, to name just a few. I will link their social pages below if you would like to check for updates and announcements.

ÁMEZING PODCAST
I’m back on Tierney Talks! This is my fourth time on Tierney’s podcast, but it’s been a few years since we recorded our last episode together. (I was her first guest ever back in 2019, recorded a summer special that year too, and then was a virtual guest during the Covid era).
If you don’t know, Tierney helps write and edit this newsletter. So even though we’re always collaborating, it’s special to sit down together for a long form conversation. It was so fun! We go all over the place in the episode, but some topics we touch on include:
Reflecting on nearing my 10th year in the skincare / beauty industry
Relaunching my Anti Pollutant Masque with Aliangé
Everything you can expect from a treatment at my studio in West Hollywood
What I consider my specialty as a facialist
Products, product formulators, tips, and techniques
My non-negotiables when it comes to caring for your skin in 2025!
Listen wherever you get your podcasts! If you like what you hear, please subscribe to the show, and if you’re inspired, leave a comment on Apple.
Questions for me after you listen to us? Ideas for topics we should cover in this newsletter? Comment them here and I’ll answer them next month.
Studio Updates
I’m still closed on Thursdays, but I will be re-opening for Saturday treatments until the spring. Please visit my website for a menu of services and email us at bookings@amezskin.com to book an appointment.
Please remember I’m slow at responding to booking DMs, so don’t be shy to email us even if you’ve already sent a DM.
Also, I’m thrilled to announce we are expanding our retail offerings. We are so excited to welcome select products from the Dr. Loretta range and SIV's Biome-Balancing Serum, which I briefly mentioned in the Tierney Talks ep above. We hope you enjoy and listen. Sending a massive hug, we love you LA. 🧡
